Member and Government Relations

The common work of the Member and Government (MGR) Division is to identify, assess and respond effectively to the needs of Members and other customers.

The Division is comprised of the following departments: Member & Regional Relations, Government and Industry AffairsAirport and ATC charges, Fuel, Taxation, Insurance, and Interline & Revenue Management Solutions.

Its responsibilities cover:

  • Recruiting airlines to become IATA Members and responding to their needs by maintaining contact with national and regional authorities and airlines regarding governmental and regulatory issues through regional offices.
  • Developing and implementing industry positions on aeropolitical matters, lobbying and consumer affairs.
  • Representing and promoting the interests of IATA and its Members at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
  • Developing industry programs to minimise the cost to Members of insurance, taxation, user charges, fuel and invoice processing.
  • Managing programs that involve the operations of ATC and Airport Financing Services.
  • Facilitating the global multilateral interline system through Passenger and Cargo Tariff Conferences and tariff related products and services. Providing additional services in the areas of airline pricing, revenue management and distribution.
  • Supporting the fulfillment of IATA's corporate objectives within the Governance structure and the Secretariat.
