Europe

IATA's European country and regional offices are focused on responding to the needs of its Member airlines, accredited travel agents and industry partners.

IATA has a considerable presence in Europe; its executive office is based in Geneva and a solid regulatory representation in Brussels. Also present in Brussels is a team dedicated to supporting our members on issues that deal with safety, operations, infrastructure, navigation systems and airports.

IATA's European offices maintain close relations with governments and the institutions of the European Union, paying particular attention to decisions made by European regulators that could potentially impact on IATA member airlines and how they do business.

Regional Priorities

  • Ensure that decisions in ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) and the EU reflect the industry position on climate change.
  • Ensure that 100% of IATA Members have scheduled IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) by the end of 2008.
  • Cost reduction: achieve savings and cost avoidance in industry taxes, charges and fuel fees.
  • Operations: promote fuel savings through airline operational efficiencies, new routes and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Support for the 27,000 IATA accredited travel agents in Europe, through IATA's country offices.
